Animal Farm Final Draft

Survival of the fittest doesn't apply to everyone especially when you live on Animal Farm. On the farm the animals all hope to live in harmony, but unless you have the intellegence to understand when you are being lied to. Some animals are smart; some aren't so bright but if you understand the lies being told you are sure to live. Its not the pigs that will kill you, but it is your ability to know when deciet is around you.

The first animal I want to talk about is Squeeler. He is the person who twists the stories. The first time he twists a story is when lies to the animals about beds. The fourth commandment reads " No animal shall sleep in a bed." Later on in the story the animals notice the commandments look different; the fourth commandment now reads " No animal shall sleep in a bed with sheets." When the animals confront him he says the commandment has always said this and that anywhere you sleep is a bed. The second time he twists a story is with Boxer's death. The van that boxer gets taken away in was a horse slaughterer but Squeeler tells the animals that he died in a luxurious hosptal. The last story that he twists is the story of how the windmill was destroyed. Truly the windmill was wrecked in a storm. Squeeler tells the animals that Snowball destroyed the windmill on purpose.
This is how Squeeler has mastered and twisted the stories.

The second character I'm going to talk about is Benjamin. He is the smartest animal besides the pigs. Since he is so smart this make him less gullable to the propoganda told by Squeeler. Benjamin's first show of this is when the commandments are changed. he is the only one that can read the words, " No animal shall drink alchohol in access." The second time he displays his intellegence is when he reads the side of the van that picks Boxer up. He says to the animals, " You fools, do you not see what is written on side of that truck?'' Since he is able to decide for himself what he wants to believe; this enables him to play along with the lies and deciet to stay alive.

The last character is Boxer. Boxer is kind, trusting, and hard working. He is very dedicated to the ideals of Animal Farm. Boxer's incredible dedication, strength, and loyalty plays a key role in the success of Animal Farm and later the completion of the windmill. One of his Mottos is, " I will work harder." Boxer's defense of Snowball shows his honesty and integrity. He made sure that he addressed Snowball's bravery at the Battle of Cowshed. This displays that he might be strong and honest but he wasn't smart enough to keep his mouth shut. Even though boxer did as he was told
he was still betrayed by the pigs when they sell him to a glue factory when he got hurt for a case of whiskey. Because Boxer had all these traits they caused him to blind when it came to the pigs lies. Unfortunatley for Boxer being helpful and strong didn't keep him alive.

The ability to understand stories is a key element in surviving on Animal Farm. On Animal farm you must understand the lies to stay alive and be able to draw the line between truth and lie. If you are able to master this you will prosper, but if this masters you will fail to survive. some animals on the farm are smart enough to survive some are just unable to understand but either way the way they respond to these stoies determines whether they live or die. Stories are powerful things, but the one who understands them can change them.
