NHD Thesis Statemant
The person i picked is Marquis De Lafayette. He was a French volunteer during the revolution. As a Major General in the continental army he became close friends with General George Washington. Washington was very admirable of the fact that Lafayette was risking his life to fight for other people who would have had little significance in his life. He is the only person in the world to become a general at age 22. Had it not been for this man we might still be British. He lead our troops into some of the most important battles of the Revolutionary war and while sustaining wounds of his own he did not quit this is why I picked him for my NHD topic.

Figure in History
My favorite figure in history is The Marquis De Laffeyette. He Left France to fight in the revolution because he believed so strongly in freedom. He is not the only one who had contributed to the American cause in the 1700s. When he was fighting with George Washington he was shot in the leg and refused to return to France and avoid any more danger. He is the definition of a true believer and is admired greatly by many Americans.

The ISSUES of 2008
The candidates both have very good ideas for the issue of gun control but they don't have the same ways to accomplish them. John McCain want to simply run background checks on people and only allow them to purchase a firearm if they gain a special permit as opposed to the older simpler permits. Barack Obama want to limit the amounts of guns sold to people and ban the solicitation of assault rifles for anything other than military use. It is Obama's Choice of action that will surely help out because 45 percent of gun violence is done by an assault rifle but the question is what to do with the ones already out on the street.

The Candidates & Iraq
Both candidates are very serious about pulling U. S. troops out of Iraq, but Baraq Obama wants to pull the troops out in one straight shot . John McCain's idea is to pull our troops out little by little. McCain wants to tap into the oil reserves in Alaska to lower gas prices to help people save money and boost the economy slowly but effectively. Senator Obama wants to leav those reserves alone and wait to find an alternative energy source.
Point in History
One of my favorite points in history is invasion of Normandy. It was the beginning to the liberation of Europe and is filled with both tragic and triumphant events. I have had a few neighbors who were soldiers who were involved in the Batte for Normany beach on June 6, 1944. These men were both brave and admirable and my opinions will never change on them no matter what may occur.

People should elect John McCain because he is not enthusiastic on going to war and he is determined to get and keep our company out of debt. I've done a bit of research on John McCain and have come to realize that he know what war is and both the economical and emotional strains it can put on a country. He was a P.O.W. of the Korean War and was given the experience of war to the fullest. He will not send the U.S. into war unless his hand was truly forced. His most extreme focus is on the economy. He wants to pull this country out of the billions of dollars that it is in debt and make the U.S. live up to its reputation as one of the richest and most powerful nations in the world.
